Jose is an Associate at Forum Law Office who practices in the areas of Divorce/Family Law and Immigration Law. Jose is a Barrister and Solicitor in both Chile (a Civil Law Jurisdiction) and Canada (a Common Law Jurisdiction). Jose’s combined legal training allows him a better understanding of the particular situations that international clients might face, as well as provide creative points of view and solutions to his local clients. Jose is fluent in Spanish and is able to assist clients in their preferred language.

Family Law & Divorce

Jose’s Family Law practice focuses on the amicable resolution of matters and providing objective advice to clients. Jose has practiced in Family Law since he was an articling student in January of 2018 to date. Throughout his practice, Jose has appeared before the Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. Jose has appeared before judges in morning and afternoon chambers, special chambers, JDR’s, interim hearings and trials. He volunteered with Student Legal Services during law school and presently volunteers with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre when possible.

Immigration Law

Jose’s immigration practice focuses on Refugee Claims, which extends to the Refugee Appeal Division and applications to the Federal Court of Canada when appropriate. Jose can also assist clients with admissibility hearings, the preparation of a procedural fairness letter, humanitarian and compassionate grounds applications and with detention reviews.
